- Split diff from apply: `EntityDiff` and `UpdatePolicy`, so versioning is testable without a database
- The create/write lifecycle is implicit, and its bulk and import copies have drifted

- The contract is 5 abstract methods; the coupling surface is 140 protected hooks
- `ThreadLocal` used as a parameter, and five post-commit collectors across four classes
- Repository construction is a service-locator call with a side effect
